The Project brief was to rehabilitate a delapidated lodge owned by the Catholic Diocese of Kabale and remodel it into a small hotel with catering and lodging facilities.
The site is located in a prime location of kisoro town and convenient for tourists to the Mgahinga Gorilla National park as well as the Muhavura mountains.
The building layouts are oriented for the view and sunshading with verandas which enhances circulation across various building units. Owing to the local geological and vegetation endowment, volcanic sandstone and bamboos/reeds were used extensively for walling, ceiling and fittings. The landscaping is crowned with the full scale gorilla sculpture.
