MTN UGANDA HEADQUARTERS
Over the last 8 years, Pro-plan Partners has provided planning, architectural, landscaping, and interior design services for several MTN projects. The most prominent project is the Headquarters office complex set on four (4) acres of prime land adjoining 2nd street, Jinja road and Spring Road. The site was previously of predominantly ware housing structures built in the 1950’s for BAT (Uganda) Ltd.
The scope of the work involves bringing together various MTN departments from detached sites around Kampala’s CBD and other neighborhoods.
The on-going project involves accommodation for approximately 1000 staff members with varying requirements applicable to their departments including Management, Finance, Admin, Sales and Marketing, Engineering, Call centre etc. The auxiliary requirements include extensive parking space, canteen, recreation space, gym etc.
The project incorporates considerable functional transformation from dilapidated industrial buildings into modern office facilities. Pro-plan Partners revitalized the existing rigid structural space with introduction of split-level interiors, sky lighting and interconnected common areas.
The site was zoned to restrain the car parking adjacent to the accesses off Jinja Road and Spring Road. The built-up area leaves an extensive central courtyard for services and pedestrian circulation. Plants have been used profusely spread out vertically and horizontally to mask the services and hard visual elements.
Furthermore, soft landscaping elements like water fountain, sculptural elements and winding pathways have been introduced to create an environment of calm and tranquility amidst a hectic commercial space
