The Government of Uganda is desirous to transform the social and economic conditions prevailing in the country through rapid industrial development. Consequently, it has acquired a site of approx. 5 sq.km to manufacture SUV and pick-up cars. Proplan has participated in the Feasibility study assignment by preparing masterplans and spatial development models for the Eco- Industrial site that is projected to manufacture 100,000 vehicles by 2040. The development constitutes largely the industrial sector with various factories for production of vehicle components and a ground proving facility complete with an airstrip. There are also various facilities for office accommodation, commercial, social infrastructure, housing, hospitality and recreational facilities, among others.
